Sports Update

Tonight's home JV baseball game has been cancelled.

The Tiger Invitational Track Meet, originally scheduled for tomorrow, April 1st, has been rescheduled for Friday, April 21st.

Remote Learning Materials and Information

Attention Newton Falls Families:

Today, Thursday, March 30th, from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM, materials for remote learning will be available at the Elementary/Middle School for pick up for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade.

Students in Kindergarten through second grade are being provided paper packets to complete.

Third grade students will also be provided paper packets, but will need their Chromebook to complete their Iready assignments.

All fourth grade assignments will be provided through Google Classroom, but paper packets will be available as well.

Fifth grade students will need their Chromebooks and Math workbook.

Any student who needs paper packets at the Junior/Senior High School should email Principal Rankin at rankinr@nfschools.org and packets will be provided. Chromebooks can be picked up today at the Junior/Senior High School during normal office hours.

TCTC shuttles will operate during our remote period.

If you are unable to pick up student materials today, you may pick them up tomorrow, Friday, March 31st, Monday, April 3rd, and Tuesday April 4th during normal school hours.

As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to seeing our students on Tuesday, April 11th.

Local Scholarship Deadline

Attention Class of 2023 Seniors and Parents:

This is a reminder that local scholarship applications are due by the end of the day on Monday, April 3rd. The Arthur Dunn Ohio Walker scholarship is also due on that day and should be emailed directly to Mr. Kernen at kernens@nfschools.org.

ELMS Honors Assembly and Fundraiser Update

The K-5 Honors Assembly has been rescheduled to Friday, April 14th.

Kindergarten and First grade will begin at 9:00 AM
Second and Third grade will begin at 9:45 AM
Fourth and Fifth grade will begin at 10:30 AM

Fundraiser Pick-up will be held on Monday, April 3rd, from 1:30 PM until 6:00 PM at the Elementary/Middle School. If you can not make this time, please notify Mrs. Radcliffe at (330) 872-0695 ext. 1055.

The school district will be doing remote instruction Friday, March 31, 2023 through Tuesday, April 4, 2023. The district will plan to return to full instruction on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the conclusion of Spring Break.

Senior Picture Yearbook Submission Deadline Saturday, April 1st

Seniors, the deadline for senior picture submission for the Junior High/High School yearbook is Saturday, April 1st. Your picture can be emailed in jpeg format to reynoldsd@nfschools.org. If you are unable to get a senior portrait, please see Mrs. Reynolds to set up a time to get your picture taken.

Updated COVID Guidance for Newton Falls Schools

Anyone with COVID-like symptoms should stay home and get tested.

- Traditional symptoms include fever/chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headache, loss of taste/smell, sore throat, congestion/runny nose, and nausea/vomiting/diarrhea.

- Omicron variant symptoms (most common current variant) include sore throat, congestions, runny nose, and cough (may develop later).

Individuals who test positive for COVID must isolate at home for 5 days. Day 1 is the day after symptom onset or a positive test. They can return to work/school on day 6 if their symptoms are improving but they must wear a tight fitting mask on days 6-10. Alternatively, if they take 2 rapid tests 48 hours apart starting on day 6 and both are negative, they can discontinue wearing the mask.

Individuals who are exposed to someone with Covid do not need to quarantine if they are asymptomatic; however, it is recommended that they wear a mask for 10 days.

Many times parents and guardians are not sure when to keep a child at home due to illness. For information about communicable diseases which can help guide you as you make this decision, go to this link.

This is a reminder that all student fees are due at this time.

Seniors, all fees must be paid in full in order to receive your diploma.

Kindergarten Pre-Registration for the 2023-2024 School Year

Kindergarten Pre-Registration for the Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools is taking place through Friday, June 9, 2023 for any students who turn the age of five (5) before August 1, 2023 and wish to attend Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools. This is a multi-stage registration procedure.

JHHS Yearbooks

The Junior High/High School yearbook for the 2022-2023 school year is on sale now for students in grades 6-12. The cost of the yearbook is $60.00 and can be purchased online. Yearbooks will be delivered at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year.

Also on sale now are a limited quantity of additional yearbooks from the 2021-2022 school year. They are first come, first serve. The cost is $60.00. Please see Mrs. Reynolds in room 319 to purchase this yearbook or contact her at reynoldsd@nfschools.org.

Walk Warm Program at the ELMS

The Walk Warm Program has returned to the Elementary/Middle School through Friday, May 19th. The program takes place Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on days when school is open.

Participants are NOT permitted in the building until 4:00 PM due to student dismissal. If you arrive before 4:00 PM, please remain in your vehicle until that time.

The program is open to all Newton Falls residents. Individuals under eighteen years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Sign-in is required.

In Case Of Emergency

In case of emergencies such as school closings, bus delays, or upcoming events, the district will use its computerized telephone notification system to inform parents. It is extremely important that parents verify their emergency telephone numbers with each building secretary. If you have changed telephone numbers or are now using only a cell phone contact to be reached, please update your information with the building secretary.
